MEET THE ARTIST
ABOUT JEMIMA LANARIO
As an independent artist based on the outskirts of London, I have always been surrounded by both urban and rural environments, and thus have developed a deep appreciation for how these contrasting landscapes interact. In my final year of studying Illustration and Visual Media BA at the University of the Arts London, I delved into my interests in architecture and home design, as well as my hobby of gardening, which led me to produce a series of architecture-inspired concrete plant pots. Through these art pieces I aimed to foster an appreciation for the visual beauty in the necessity of intertwining nature with our cityscapes. After graduating I was eager to continue sharing this message – and many sanded-off fingerprints and concrete covered tables later – I have perfected a sustainable method of producing my “buildings” as collections of high-quality, affordable art and homeware.
Throughout my creative career, acrylic painting has remained a constant. I paint what brings me joy, typically focusing on colour and light while admiring the simple perfections of life. On separate occasions, two of my paintings, Chilli Pepper (2024) and Pear (2023), were featured in the Royal Society of British Artists Rising Stars exhibition, as well as a coloured pencil drawing, Summer Cocktail (2021).
